Children’s Faith Formation will be in the same groupings as last year:
-
Pre-K, Kindergarten, First Graders: This will be available only for those whose parents are involved with the adult program. Supervised, quiet activities on any of the days could include, among other activities: story-time, a children’s version of the Sunday’s gospel, coloring sheets, activity sheets, seasonal crafts, games, suitable videos about saints, Jesus, holidays etc. Introduction to the Holy Family, the Church, and familiarization to the prayers they should know by First Communion.
-
First Communion Preparation is typically for Grade 2 students, but could also include any young child in elementary school who has not yet received First Communion.
-
Grades 3, 4, and 5 (Elementary) will be grouped together in one classroom. We hope this will create more social bonds with the children over the 3 grades. They will have a 3-year rotation of programs so as not to repeat the same material.
-
Grades 6, 7. and 8 (Jr High) will be grouped together in one classroom. We hope this will create more social bonds with the children over the 3 grades. They will have a 3-year rotation of programs so as not to repeat the same material. Please note, starting this year, in order to move on to Confirmation preparation, your child must attend at least 1 year of Faith Formation within 2 years prior to starting Confirmation.
-
Confirmation 1 (typically Grade 9 students and for any older student who hasn’t started Confirmation preparation) and Confirmation 2 (typically Grade 10 students and for any older student who has completed the first year of Confirmation preparation) will be together. They must have already received the sacraments of First Reconciliation & Communion prior to Confirmation preparation. At least 15 hours of Works of Mercy (Community Service) is requested to be completed in the 2 years of Confirmation prep. These hours can be counted for school requirements as well.
